Bob Crossman

Robert Crossman biography

Cockroach Blue Bob Crossman director

As a teenager, I was captivated by the special effects makeup in horror films. This fascination led to countless hours designing and forming latex prosthetics and making short films to showcase my creations. Quickly realizing that I enjoyed the story telling more than the FX, I enrolled in York University's film program, where I graduated with honours and won 11 international awards for my thesis film, A Pretty Strong Word.

After graduation, I met some like-minded film makers and formed a production company, The Paulus Film Group, who’s catalogue of projects resulted in over 70 festival screenings and 30 awards. The many projects I directed with Paulus included two award winning short films and the feature film Cornered.

My twenty year directing career has been wonderfully diverse, including such varied projects as the stop-motion TV show Glenn Martin D.D.S. and the award winning kids shows Gisele’s Big Backyard and The Space. Often fulfilling multiple roles as creator/writer/director I have also had the pleasure of developing projects with such companies as Copperheart Entertainment, ShadowMachine and Shaftesbury, consistently pitching shows through Canada and the US, always enjoying the opportunity to tell another story.
